Answer: ISSUING CREDIT NOTES FOR NON INVENTORY RETURNS
Jul 06, 2007 11:04 am

In your item list make a new item for price adjustments. Then when you do a credit memo for the customer. This keeps your inventory and sales history intact but gets the customers balance adjusted.

Question: Bills received date
Jul 06, 2007 11:09 am

Hello Richard,

I recently started using Simple Start for tracking my accounts for my consulting company. I love the way the invoices are tracked. You invoice your customers and you can track how many outstanding invoices are pending and all that good stuff.

I would like to do the same with 'bills'. I don't pay the bills right away as there is usually a grace period for those. At any given moment, I would like to know how much money do I owe. I don't see a way of doign this in simplestart. I can enter the bill when I am paying them, but I could not find a way to enter them when I receive them and track them till the payment is made.

Thanks in advance!
-Sunil

Answer: Bills received date
Jul 06, 2007 11:14 am

You can do a hybrid of the system by selecting to print later it is a small box between the check section and the split section of the write checks form. Enter the date as the due date for the bills that you are going to pay this will let you know your committed funds and what you need to generate in cash revenue to pay your bills for any given date.

Question: Acct Copy
Jul 06, 2007 11:15 am

I received the accountants copy after my taxes were done. I can not get it out of acct copy now. I was wondering how you merge the changes, and then go back to the normal mode.

Question: QUESTION SDK AND ODBC
Jul 06, 2007 11:18 am

We have problems extracting information about Paycheck and Payroll transactions. We are using sdk’s TransactionQuery function; we set filters using all possible combinations (see example) without successful results. But executing a sql query over the transaction table, using the ODBC, we get those transactions. Could those transactions be obtained using other sdk’s functions?

Example:

This is one of the combinations that we tried:

transactionQuery.ORTransactionQuery.TransactionFilter.TransactionModifiedDateRangeFilter.ORTransactionModifiedDateRangeFilter.DateMacro.SetValue (dmAll);

transactionQuery.ORTransactionQuery.TransactionFilter.TransactionDateRangeFilter.ORTransactionDateRangeFilter.DateMacro.SetValue (dmAll);

transactionQuery.ORTransactionQuery.TransactionFilter.TransactionTypeFilter.TxnTypeFilterList.Add (ttfAll);

transactionQuery.ORTransactionQuery.TransactionFilter.TransactionDetailLevelFilter.SetValue (tdlfAll);

transactionQuery.ORTransactionQuery.TransactionFilter.TransactionPostingStatusFilter.SetValue (tpsfEither);

transactionQuery.ORTransactionQuery.TransactionFilter.TransactionPaidStatusFilter.SetValue (tpsffEither);

I am sorry I just don't know you may want to try one of the third party vendors to see if they can provide a solution.

This has got to be a set up issue because of the card number change. I would set up another account with the new number and allow QB to do the download. then I would make the necessary adjusting enries to transfer the needed info from the old the new.

Question: Pull-down Menus not working properly
Jul 06, 2007 12:53 pm

This EXACT same thing just happened to me this morning as well for the first time - within minutes of your situation. I have been using 2007 PRO successfully for many months without incidence and now this - coincidence perhaps, or something more?????

Question: Pull-down menus not working properly
Jul 06, 2007 12:53 pm

Like another individual this morning, I have been using QB Pro 2007 successfully for months, and all of a sudden this morning I have no information in my pull-down menus when trying to create sales receipts. I find this to be an odd coincidence as it happened around the same time as the other individual. (automatic downloads/ upgrades errors???)
As per your reponse to that individual, I am the only user and so there would not have been any changes made to access/permisssion etc. Any suggestions...I'm unable to create any invoices until this is resolved -help!

Question: Customer Types
Jul 07, 2007 11:19 am

Thank you for your answer. What happens when the customer now has us preform another job? can you change the source of the lead on the invoice or will it always be from the same source now. What about the class tracking feature, is there anyway to use that to be more specific? what if i generate an estimate with no sale would i be able to track each one more precisely. The way you suggest leads me to believe that after the customer becomes a repeat customer they will be listed under the wrong source the second time.

Thanks for all your help in this matter

Each customer can have multiple jobs and thus tracking can be unique for each job.

You will need to reinstall 2006. If you want to be able to have both on the system. Watch when 2007 install assign in to a different directory than where 2006 is installed.

Question: This should be an easy one for you to answer...
Jul 07, 2007 11:22 am

I manage the advertising receivables for 12 different editorial websites and I have been doing it
manually up until now.

I'd like to use QB but I am not sure what version to buy.

My questions are:

1. Do I need to purchase 12 editions of QB to manage these 12 individual receivable accounts?

2. Which version of QB do I need to manage these receivables?

Thank you.

No one license can handle an unlimited number of company files. The license has to do with multi access to the same company file at the same time.

QuickBooks Pro will do the job.

Question: Inventory - Multiple Warehouses
Jul 07, 2007 11:24 am

Our company has multiple warehouse locations. We would like to be able to view On Hand balances by item for each warehouse.

Can we use the location feature to do this? The help function said you could assign locations to items - similar to the bin idea.

If so, when we ship from a remote warehouse, how do we pull the item from the correct warehouse to maintain the proper inventory OH balance?

Thank you.

My honest opinion is I could give you a long work around to handle this but QB will not give you what you want on this complicated inventory situation.

Question: Items and prices
Jul 07, 2007 11:28 am

We mark our items up by a different percentage, depending on what they cost us, we have 6 different percentage levels that we use. When an items cost to us changes I notice that unless I manually go into the item list to change the price to the customer when I create an invoice the price is based on whatever cost I used to originally set up the item, is there any way to set price levels to automatically change the customers price based on what I have put in for the most current cost?
